Her Story

Why Jackie Does This Work

Jackie didn't come to functional nutrition through a textbook. She came through her own body.

Long before she was running labs and building root-cause protocols, she was the patient navigating her own GI issues, disordered eating, body image struggles, and sports injuries with the same frustration her clients describe today. Seeing specialist after specialist. Getting answers that didn't hold. Managing symptoms that kept coming back.

That experience is what sent her deeper. She built her academic foundation on a double bachelor's in Psychology and Sociology before earning her master's in Nutritional Science because she understood early on that what someone eats is inseparable from how they think, feel, and relate to their body. You can't treat one without the other.

After years in conventional clinical settings, watching patients return with the same unresolved symptoms year after year, she made the shift to functional medicine to include the testing, the root-cause thinking, the systems-based approach. She finally understood why standard nutrition counseling so often fails: it's treating the surface, not the source.

She founded Hackett Health to do it differently. Investigate first. Prescribe second. Build every protocol around real data, not a cookie cutter handout and never separate the gut work from the mindset work, because the two are always connected.

The Framework

Why Gut +
Nervous System

The gut and the nervous system are in constant communication. The vagus nerve runs directly between them. When one is dysregulated, the other follows. This is why gut symptoms so often come with anxiety, poor sleep, and fatigue — and why stress so often triggers digestive flares.

Most functional nutrition practices focus on the gut in isolation. Jackie's approach addresses both systems together — because treating one without the other is why so many protocols only partially work.

This is also why the DUTCH test (which maps cortisol rhythm and HPA axis function) is often as important as the gut microbiome panel. The data tells a complete story.

You've Spent Long Enough
Not Feeling Well

The answers exist. The testing exists. The protocol exists. What's been missing is a practitioner who will actually look for them.
